Start demolition, Heen en Weer & Neighborhood Ambassador

Start of demolition works at the petrol station

On 10 November, fencing will be installed around the petrol station on Amstelveenseweg and demolition works will begin, carried out by the current operator. The petrol station will then close permanently. During these and future works, Amstelveenseweg will remain accessible, and we expect minimal impact on the local traffic situation. Construction of E-lympic is expected to commence in spring 2026.

E-lympic and Heen en Weer join forces for inclusive mobility!

At E-lympic, we are building the mobility hub of the future, with rapid charging points and a wide range of shared mobility options (e-bikes, electric cars, etc.). But mobility is more than speed and technology; it is about the freedom to move for everyone. That’s why we are excited to announce our partnership with Heen en Weer Amsterdam as part of our successful participation project!

What is Heen en Weer?

Heen en Weer offers an essential social transport service in various districts of Amsterdam. With their recognizable, small electric vehicles, volunteer drivers take residents with limited mobility to appointments, the supermarket, the doctor, or just to social activities in the neighborhood for only €1. They fight against social isolation and give people back their autonomy and strength.

The Power of Collaboration

This partnership brings together two worlds:

  • Social Inclusivity: E-lympic supports the mission of Heen en Weer, allowing us to indirectly contribute to the mobility of the most vulnerable people in Amsterdam.
  • Sustainable Hub: The electric vehicles of Heen en Weer perfectly align with E-lympic’s focus on sustainable, clean, and innovative mobility.

What does this mean for the neighborhood?

Visibility: Heen en Weer will become part of the E-lympic hub ecosystem, making their essential service even more visible to the entire community.

Together, we ensure that the E-lympic location becomes a place where everyone can stay on the move—whether you grab a fast e-bike, charge your electric car, or book a ride with Heen en Weer.

Call to the neighborhood: become the voice of your community as a Neighborhood Ambassador!

Will you help build the E-lympic of tomorrow?

E-lympic is by and for the neighborhood. Now that the plans are becoming more concrete, we want to strengthen the connection with you, the residents. That’s why we are looking for someone who wants to be the "eyes and ears" of the community: our Neighborhood Ambassador!

We are pleased to announce that the first interested people have already come forward. Now we are making a broad call to find the perfect candidates to represent the neighborhood. We would like to appoint several Neighborhood Ambassadors to make the time commitment manageable and easy to combine with your daily life.

What will you do? The essential link

As a Neighborhood Ambassador, you are the crucial connection between the residents and our project team. Your tasks include:

  • Your view of reality: You act as the eyes and ears in the neighborhood and share feedback and signals with the project team, both during construction and afterwards.
  • Point of contact: Together with the other Neighborhood Ambassadors, you are a point of contact for questions from your fellow residents, for example about using the hub, the spaces in the historic service residence, or helping with things like getting a child seat for the shared cars.
  • Knowledge center: You like to occasionally drop by our knowledge center and chat with interested visitors.
